Autumn Dame and Mari Elizabeth Couture Headband open house

Today at 7 PM there is an open house for Mari Elizabeth Couture Headbands and Autumn Dame at 1021 Wilson Ave, SLC, UT 84105.
I just found these great items at the Beehive Bazaar and I am hooked. The embellished shirts are my favorite. I want to go tonight to pick up an embellished cardigan to fill my stocking.

Holiday Show for a Good Cause

I just heard about the Isolm family that wants to adopt a little boy from Ethopia. In order to raise fund to do this they are hosting a boutique at their home. All items at the boutique were donated so all the proceeds go directly to the family.

If you would like to attend the boutique is at the Isolm Home at 414 South 1125 West in Layton.
The show is tomorrow Dec 12th from 10 am to 4 pm.

If you are unable to attend the show but would like to donate to the cause the Isolm's have set up a paypal account for donations. For more information check out their blog at jefflindajake.blogspot.com.

The Traveling Trunk Boutique Review

While I was out today I went to check out the Traveling Trunk Boutique.
This show was held at a home that was for sale in the Harvard/Yale area of Salt Lake. I got to the show about 2:30 on the first day of the show. When I was talking with the hostesses of the show they told me that they were already sold out of many of there items. They seem to have a very strong following and the veterans of their shows get there early and stock up on the items that they want. So get there early.
With the show being in an empty home they were able to spread items throughout the entire home. I am sure that the realtor is hoping all the foot traffic will also sell the house. They had items on three levels. With all the space it made it very easy to see everything that was available. Although the home had some interesting elements that made going through a little difficult. The stairs in the home were quite treacherous. I personally saw 2 people tumble. Luckily nothing serious. Also in the kitchen where they had checkout the back door was down a few stairs and the area was open. I was just waiting for someone to not see that it was there and fall in.
I was impressed with the vendors that they had at the show. One of my favorite parts of this show were all the books they had for sale. They had a wide variety of cookbooks and holiday books along with a huge selection of miscellaneous books. I have seen books at other shows but it is usually a selection of children's books but this was something completely different with books for all ages.
Overall the show had a great group vendors and minus the crazy elements of the house was a great space to showcase the vendors items. I would recommend getting to the show right when it starts so you don't miss out on any items.
The show continues through Saturday open from 9 am to 6 pm. Central checkout accepts cash, check, and credit card with the exception of american express.

Nalisa Dunford's Christmas Art & Gift Show Review

I attended the Nalisa Dunford's Christmas art and gift show today. The show was held in a private home in Holladay.
First I have to tell you to follow the driving instructions from the invite. I used my GPS and it got me totally lost!
Once I got to the show I was a little disappointed about the house it was held in. The home was really small and cramped. I felt like I could not look at everything they had on display because it was so cramped. I do have to mention that I had my diaper bag and one-year-old in tow. Even if I took those two factors away I felt like there was no good flow to the show. I walked out feeling like I could not see all the items they had there.
I have to say that they chose good vendors to cramp there space with. The show highlights Nettie who makes custom Gnomes and Witches. My thoughts on them is that you will either like them or you will not. They are an investment item that if you do not love you will not want to invest the cash in. If you do invest in the pieces it would be something you would attend the show each year to add to your collection.
If you are someone who collects Nettie's Gnomes and Witches this show is for you. You can pick up new pieces for your collection and see some other great vendors. For everyone else I would skip this show and head to one that offers more vendors and has better flow so you can fully appreciate the items for sale.

Nalisa Dunford's Christmas Art & Gift Show

I received an invite today for Nalisa Dunford's Christmas Art & Gift show. I am slightly intrigued by the list of vendors they have listed for their show. Check back next week for a review.

Mindy Mae's Market Review

So today I braved the snow and drove to Clinton for the Mindy Mae's Market Show. I have to say that the show was not worth the drive.
I was really excited about this show since I had heard rave reviews including a spotlight on Studio 5. Overall I was pretty disappointed. I felt they did not have the number of vendors I expected from a show of this size. The vendors they did have seemed to have quality products. So I would say if you do not live close to the show it is not worth making the trek but it is a nice treat for the Northern Utah gals.

Mindy Mae's Market

Mindy Mae's Market had the sneak peak of their holiday show in Clinton this evening. I will be going to the show tomorrow. Stay tuned for my review!

The Beehive Bazaar

Last night I attended The Beehive Bazaar for the first time. I have to say that the it was quite the experience. The place was jam packed with amazing artisans and people trying to get their hands on the amazing goods (myself included).
This boutique should be on every ones must attend list. I have been to a lot of boutiques but I was pleasantly surprised with the wide variety of vendors at the Beehive Bazaar. Many of the vendors I had never seen before and some old favorites.
I would say that despite the opening night mayhem I will attend the first night in the future. The atmosphere was amazing and you get the first pick at all the items. Even with all the people they checkout was fairly quick. They had a total of 4 checkout areas. Two were for cash or check only and 2 for credit/debit card purchases. I waited about 15 minutes to check out at 10 PM in the credit card line.
If you have no desire to fight the crowd than skip the opening night and attend the second or third day of the show. Afternoons are usually the least crowded.

Welcome!

I love crafty things but I am probably the least crafty person around. To curb my need for all things crafty I have turned to boutiques where I am connected to the most talented people around. This blog is to share my knowledge of Utah boutiques and highlight the talent they showcase.
